Galatians 5:3-15
For we
through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
For I testify
again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole
law. Christ
is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye
are fallen from grace. For we
through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision
availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. Ye did
run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? This persuasion
cometh not of him that calleth you. A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. I have
confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but
he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be. And I,
brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then
is the offence of the cross ceased. I would they were even cut off which
trouble you. For, brethren, ye have been
called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by
love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in
one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. But if
ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of
another. (Galatians 5:3-15)
Paul said, "For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not
liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another." The
slave yoke is the law. In particular, circumcision is typical, and legalists
come into the church and spread with leaven saying, "You must be
circumcised." However, there are two types of church people today who keep
the law, and there are those who simply keep the law and keep the law under the
guidance of the Holy Spirit. So, it is said that keeping the law is not a
problem because it is guided by the Holy Spirit. If you say this, it's the
voice of a really drunken person. In any case, those who try to keep the law
become people without the Holy Spirit.
He who says that
he must obey the law is not a legalist like the Jews, but in light of the words
of the Bible, he looks to see if he sins or not, and tries to live according to
the words of the Bible. For example, they ask, "Isn't it natural to see
through the Ten Commandments if your life is out of God's will?" However,
what God gave the law, especially the Ten Commandments, means to realize sin
and discover Jesus Christ, yet they say that they must discover sin in the Ten
Commandments, so they become unrelated to Christ. To those who want to be
righteous through the Ten Commandments, God rules by law. If you break any of
the laws, you will be judged by God. Those who try to keep the law are like
proclaiming their righteousness.
『 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness
by faith. For in Jesus Christ neither
circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by
love. 』 The law applies to
all sinners, and those who are blessed by the faith of Christ are saved because
they are in Christ, not the law. To enter into Christ is to deny himself. That
is, they die on the cross with Jesus Christ. Jesus tells us not to stand up
self. This is because the existence of self is at the center of one's
righteousness. Your righteousness is the greed you want to be like God.
“I
am convinced in the Lord that you will have no other mind.” The other mind means the legal mind. At that time, he was referring
to those who practiced being circumcised again, saying they believed in Christ.
