Galatians 5:1-2
Be not
entangled again with the yoke of bondage
『 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath
made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. Behold, I Paul
say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. 』 (Galatians 5:1-2)
Paul said, "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made
us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." The slave
yoke is the law. In particular, circumcision is typical,
The legalists came to
the church and spread with leaven, saying, "You must be circumcised."
Today, in the people of the Church, there are two types of those who keep the
law: there are those who simply keep the law and those who keep it under the
guidance of the Holy Spirit. So, keeping the law under the guidance of the Holy
Spirit does not matter. They claim that the Holy Spirit protects those who are
guided by the Holy Spirit and keep the law. If you say this, it's the sound of
a drunk person. It is to say things that are not even in the Bible. In any
case, those who try to keep the law become people without the Holy Spirit.
For example,
they ask, "Isn't it natural to see through the Ten Commandments if your
life is out of God's will?" However, what God gave the law, especially the
Ten Commandments, means to realize sin and discover Jesus Christ, yet they say
that they must discover sin in the Ten Commandments, so they become unrelated
to Christ. To those who want to be righteous through the Ten Commandments, God
rules by law. If you break any of the laws, you will be judged by God. Those
who try to keep the law are like proclaiming their righteousness.
The first
commandment of the Ten Commandments said, "Thou shalt have no other gods
above me." So, those who are ignorant of the Bible say, "Jesus has
fulfilled the law, so can we obey this commandment?" You may think that.
The purpose God gave these commandments was because the Israelites did not know
God. So, through this law, they come to know God, to realize sin, so find Christ
to come and repent and return. However, those who are guided by the Holy Spirit
become one with God, so they know God very well. It is not because it was
prescribed in the law, but because the law of the Holy Spirit is written in the
heart, God is called the Father, and the other God is not called the Father. In
other words, there is no need for the law. So, those who claim that the law is
still needed today become those who do not know God very well.
The fourth rule of
the Ten Commandments, "The Lord commanded the Sabbath day to be holy, as
the LORD your God commanded you." Those who are ignorant of the Bible have
abolished the law, so is it not necessary to observe the Sabbath? There are
people who think. Jesus Christ is Lord of the Sabbath. To keep the Sabbath is
to look to Christ, believe, and wait. However, Jesus Christ, the Lord of the
Sabbath, came to this world. Therefore, those who are in Christ are at rest.
Those who are in Christ need not argue about keeping the Sabbath. The Sabbath
and Jubilee are both concepts of rest. Those who say that they are in Christ
and keep these things are doing it without knowing the meaning of rest.
In Jeremiah 31:33-34『 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the
house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their
inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they
shall be my people. And they shall teach no more
every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for
they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith
the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no
more. 』 It was said that the old covenant (the law) was abolished and the new
covenant was engraved in the heart. In other words, if a believer enters into
Jesus Christ, he becomes a child of God. The words, "Put my law in them
and write them in their hearts," mean that Jesus Christ forgave all the
sins of the world with the blood shed on the cross, so that those who have
entered into Christ will not be convicted of sin by the law. The Holy Spirit
comes to those who are in Christ, removing all that is related to the law. Those
who try to keep the commandments of the law cannot read the intentions of God
without the commandments of the law, but those who are guided by the Holy
Spirit already know the will of God. To understand God's will, you must
understand the meaning of the whole Bible. Those who practice the law do not
read the Bible properly, and they are speaking according to their own thoughts.『 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness
by faith. For in Jesus Christ neither
circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by
love. 』
The law applies to
all sinners, and those who are blessed by the faith of Christ are saved because
they are in Christ, not the law. To enter into Christ is to deny himself. That
is, they die on the cross with Jesus Christ. Jesus tells us not to stand up.
This is because the existence of self is at the center of one's righteousness.
Your righteousness is the greed you want to be like God. “I
am convinced in the Lord that you will have no other mind.” The other mind means the legal mind. At that time, he was referring
to those who practiced being circumcised again, saying they believed in Christ.
In Galatians 2:18-19『 For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make
myself a transgressor. For I
through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. 』, In Romans 7:4, 『Wherefore, my brethren, ye
also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be
married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should
bring forth fruit unto God. "He who is in Christ becomes dead about the
law, so there is no need for the law any more. Still, those who think that they
must obey the law have not died of the law, so they are outside Christ. It is
outside of Christ, and it is to be an unsaved person who proclaims his
righteousness. Those who are in Christ live with Christ, and those who believe
that they must obey the law are the same as those who raise Christ to death
again in the law. Those who think they must keep the law again are children of
the Devil.
Today,
thoughts about the law can be divided into three categories. It must be totally
abolished, more strictly obeyed, the law has been abolished, but the laws
related to morality are still classified as being helpful. In other words,
although the law does not lead to righteousness, they think that it is helpful
for the life of faith to follow these moral regulations to prevent sin. When
you think of the law, sin comes to mind, and you can't escape from the real
problem of sin. However, the law is extinct. Those who claim that the law has
been entirely abolished have a different meaning depending on whether they are
in Christ. Those who are in Christ are acknowledged to have been extinguished
when Jesus died on the cross. But those who are outside of Christ are still
alive to the law.
